{"id":7635,"date":"2024-09-25T14:01:00","date_gmt":"2024-09-25T14:01:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sjalfsbjorg.is\/?p=7635"},"modified":"2026-04-29T10:59:45","modified_gmt":"2026-04-29T10:59:45","slug":"oskad-eftir-thatttakendum-i-rannsokn-a-stodu-fatladra-kvenna-a-vinnumarkadi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sjalfsbjorg.is\/en\/oskad-eftir-thatttakendum-i-rannsokn-a-stodu-fatladra-kvenna-a-vinnumarkadi\/","title":{"rendered":"Participants requested for study on the status of disabled women in the labor market"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What hinders and what supports women with disabilities aged 50-67 in participating in the labor market?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>A Master&#x27;s student in Disability Studies at the University of Iceland is looking for participants for a research study aimed at creating knowledge that empowers people with disabilities to improve their circumstances and inclusion in the labor market.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The incidence of disability appears to be highest, 42%, among women aged 50 and older. Something in women&#x27;s life course seems to make them more likely to become disabled than men. This study will investigate this further using qualitative research methods. Women aged 50-67 who are on disability retirement due to a loss of health during their lives will be interviewed. The focus is on diverse marital statuses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The research aims to gain knowledge from the perspectives, experiences, and life experiences of these women. The aim of the study is to gain useful knowledge that increases understanding of these women&#x27;s needs and to create opportunities to remove barriers that women in similar situations may face. The purpose is to better support their participation and inclusion in the labor market with the goal of improving their living conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The study will hopefully also be useful in increasing the understanding of government and the labor market on how to better meet the needs of people with disabilities to promote their inclusion in the workforce more effectively, and in turn, increase their participation in society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Participation in the study involves taking part in one to two interviews, which will be verbatim transcribed and analyzed using appropriate research methods. All information will be treated as confidential. All names, locations, and other personally identifiable information will be changed so that they become completely unidentifiable. Icelandic laws regarding personal data protection, processing, and destruction of original data will be followed.
