The Aid Fund of Sjálfsbjörg, the National Federation of the Disabled, was established in 1997 with the goal of making it easier for people with disabilities to travel. The fund's goal is to enable disabled members of Self-Help groups to travel domestically and abroad on an equal basis. The fund provides applicants with grants for paramedic (for assistants) on trips.
The deadline for applications to the fund is April 1st each year, and grants are awarded from the fund. once a year if funds permit.
If an application is received during the year, it will wait until the aforementioned date. The foundation board's decision on the allocation will be communicated to the grant recipients by computermail no later than 7 weeks after the application deadline expires.
