The Aid Fund is run by Sjálfsbjörg in Akureyri and the surrounding area. Recipients of aid must be members of the organization and have paid their membership dues. 

The fund provides grants for:

• college studies.
• Adaptation of the environment and purchase of equipment for work, education, leisure, or for exchange programs.
• travel domestically or internationally due to additional costs
• one of those projects that the fund's board deems eligible for innovation and startup projects.

Applications must be submitted to the fund's board on the designated forms. All applications will receive a written response. Awards are made on the day of the disabled, December 3rd, each year.
