Sjálfsbjörg offers its members free support interviews (on-site or remote) at the Communication Center. Interviews are available for psychotherapy, social work, family therapy, education and mediation.

Margrét Vignisdóttir graduated with an MSc degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Reykjavík in the spring of 2025 and obtained her license as a psychologist the same year. She works with individuals aged 18 and older, providing therapy for issues such as depression, anxiety, stress, grief, and low self-esteem.
Margrét uses evidence-based practices in her treatment, with an emphasis on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). She gained diverse experience during her internships at the Contact Center and the Addiction Psychiatry Department of Landspítalinn.
There, she received training in the diagnosis and treatment of a variety of psychological and substance use disorders in adults. During her studies, she also led the "Stress Management" course at the health clinic.
In her master's thesis, Margrét examined how behavioral activation can benefit individuals who struggle with depression and are also diagnosed with bipolar disorder.
She has a special interest in treatment that promotes increased functionality and improved quality of life.
Elín Broddadóttir

Psychologist – adolescents and adults

Elín graduated with a BS in Psychology from the University of Iceland in 2016, an MSc in Clinical Psychology from Reykjavík University in 2024, and subsequently received her professional license as a clinical psychologist. Elín focuses on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and treats issues such as anxiety, depression, persistent physical symptoms, low self-esteem, and trauma, as well as other emotional problems. During her studies, she gained diverse experience in diagnostic and therapeutic work with both adolescents and adults. She did internships at the Capital Region Health Care System, the Children's Mental Health Center, and the Psychosis and Community Psychiatry Team at Landspítali.
Her master's thesis involved evaluating the effectiveness of cognitive behavioral therapy in a group setting for persistent physical symptoms, and she still works in research alongside her work at the Communication Center. In recent years, Elín has worked in research, but she has also completed a master's degree in social sciences with an emphasis on public health and global health. Elín has a strong interest in children's health and well-being and has worked for a long time in youth work with children and adolescents of all ages.
