Improved accessibility – a better experience. Event.

The Tourist Board invites travel service providers and other stakeholders to an event in celebration of Global Accessibility Awareness Day, on Thursday, May 21st, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

The event will take place on Teams and will be live-streamed. It is necessary to register.

At the event, participants will gain insight into accessibility issues from two different but very important perspectives—one from the user themselves and the other from a travel service provider.

The keynote speaker is Shane Hryhorec, an influencer. In addition, there will be a talk from Vilborg Ásta Árnadóttir, Marketing and Experience Manager at Sky Lagoon.

The event is part of the Tourism Board's initiative to encourage businesses to consider good accessibility in Icelandic tourism. We are partnering with key stakeholders in the field: Sjálfsbjörg, ÖBÍ, and the Housing and Building Authority.

The goal of the event is to provide insight, spark discussion, and support tourism providers in taking practical steps toward improved accessibility.

We encourage everyone who works in tourism – or is interested in improving accessibility for all – to register for the event.
