In conversation with the swan

Installation in urban space

In the spring, Sjálfsbjörg lsh. received a proposal from architect Snorri Freyr Vignisson and visual artist and set designer Ævar Uggason. They requested permission to install their work at the Sjálfsbjargarhúsið this summer. They are participants in the project Torg in Waiting, which aims to enliven underutilized urban space with temporary installations. The work they designed was specifically conceived for the square by the Sjálfsbjörg House. The work combines sculpture and a lounge area and seeks to pique curiosity with a simple yet unexpected image. In the pond, a man and a swan meet in an unexpected way, inviting everyone to create their own interpretation. Now that the work is nearing completion, a bench to enjoy the piece is part of the installation, and all you see and hear is that people are enjoying it.
