Arts, Disability and Culture
The Uppskera cultural festival takes place from February 8 to March 8 in Reykjavik. The festival is held to celebrate the 20th anniversary of disability studies at the University of Iceland and is intended to highlight the contributions of scholars, disability organizations, and disabled artists to Icelandic culture.
Two key events will be on the program: a symposium with an artistic twist at the University of Iceland on February 21, and a performing arts festival at Harpa on February 22. There will also be a variety of events related to the festival throughout the city, where the artistry of people with disabilities will be featured. More information about the program can be found at The festival's website.
Accessibility for all
The festival program is presented in plain language and the events are held in accessible locations. All events will be sign-language interpreted, and the program at Harpa will also be visually described.
The festival is free and open to all, but it is necessary to reserve tickets for the performing arts festival at Harpa.
