Southland

Suðurland has 15 municipalities and they are together in Association of Southern Municipalities (SASS).

The objectives of the association include, among other things, advocating for the interests of the residents of the member municipalities, representing their interests on both national and international levels, and supporting the work of other intermunicipal bodies of the member municipalities in accordance with the wishes of their respective boards.
